Skillet Beef & Mushrooms in Cream Sauce

Don't forget to season this delicious dish with enough salt to bring out all the wonderful flavors. An extra splash of soy sauce adds great umami and depth of flavor. It’s like a big pot of mushroom and beef gravy.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound (454 g) ground beef
  • 8 ounces (227 g) mushrooms , sliced (add more if you like!)
  • 2 Tablespoons (30 ml) oil
  • 3 cloves garlic , minced
  • 1 small onion , diced
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) beef broth
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) heavy cream
  • 2 Tablespoons (30 ml) Worcestershire sauce , or soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) dried herbs (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon (5 ml) kosher salt , or more to taste
  • lots of fresh cracked black pepper , to taste

Instructions 

  • Heat large skillet to medium high heat. Add 2 Tablespoons of oil, garlic and onions. Cook until translucent.

  • Add beef and mushrooms. Cook until beef and mushrooms are browned, about 10 minutes.

  • Add 1/4 cup beef broth, 1/2 cup heavy cream, 2 Tablespoons Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon dried herbs, 1 teaspoon salt, and black pepper to taste. Simmer for about 5 minutes or until everything is combined and cooked through.
