Our simple oven roasted cheese asparagus recipe is a popular low carb recipe on our site. That’s what inspired to make a crispy version using seasoned breading mix that’s air fried. These crispy bites of asparagus are definitely addictive and the perfect vegetable snack to make in minutes. Best of all, it’s a keto friendly vegetable dish that is perfect as a snack AND side dish. It’s a satisfying way to enjoy vegetables in a different way. Serve them as a side with an awesome steak and this is one of our favorite quick dinners.

Tips for Making Crispy Air Fried Breaded Asparagus
- Which size/thickness of fresh asparagus? There’s so many different thicknesses when you buy asparagus. Don’t buy the really skinny ones because they’ll won’t get as crispy. But the medium thickness is best because it’s a nice bite of breading to vegetable. The thick asparagus spears are ok too but you just have to cook them a little longer.
- Using crushed pork rinds as the coating is a great keto/low carb breading with lots of flavor. You can also use almond flour or coconut flour for the low carb options.
- Frozen asparagus won’t really work because they release too much water and won’t be crispy.

How to Re-heat This Asparagus?
If you have leftovers it’s easy to re-heat the in the air fryer. First of all, pre-heat the air fryer at 360F for about 5 minutes. Then gently place the leftover asparagus in the air fryer and heat for about 3 minutes OR until it’s to your preferred texture. Every air fryer is a little different, so cooking times will vary. After you re-heat your first batch, you’ll know more of what thing works best for you.
Air Fryer Crispy Keto Asparagus with Parmesan
Ingredients
- 1/2 pound fresh asparagus , ends trimmed
- 1 large egg , beaten
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt , or to taste
- fresh cracked black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 cup crushed pork rinds
- 2 Tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
Dips: keto hot sauce, keto ranch, sugar-free bbq sauce (optional)

- Pre-heat air fryer at 380°F for 5 minutes. Coat the asparagus with the beaten egg. Season with salt, pepper and garlic powder evenly over asparagus. Gently toss to coat evenly.
- In another bowl combine the ground pork rinds and parmesan cheese Dip asparagus in the parmesan mix and shake off excess. Spray all sides of the coated asparagus with oil spray. Dry coating might fly around in air fryer and burn, so make sure to coat any dry spots.
- Spray air fryer basket/tray with oil spray and place the coated asparagus in a single layer in the basket/tray.
- Air Fry at 380°F for 5-8 minutes. Gently flip and spray any dry spots with oil spray if needed.
- Air Fry at 380°F for additional 3-5 minutes or until they are crispy golden brown. Serve warm with your favorite dip.
